A boutique gem in Polanco

I love this hotel and stay here regularly. The design is very cool, it’s an excellent location on a quiet street but that’s very centrally located in Polanco. The staff is all great, in particular the restaurant staff with Rodolfo y Lupillo taking care of me and even remembering my standard order after some time in between my trips. Love it here, a true home away from home.

Breakfast outshines the stay

Breakfast was the standout of our stay at The Wild Oscar. Rodolfo and Chef Sergio did an excellent job, and we enjoyed trying all the Mexican breakfast options during our four‑night visit. We did notice an extra charge for adding eggs to the avocado toast. The room was clean, but the lighting was poor, and the towel quantity felt below expectations for this price level

Charming but with downsides

This is a charming hotel in a safe, quiet neighborhood. The rooms and public spaces are well appointed. I got great nights' sleep every night, thanks to the blackout curtains, comfortable bed, and excellent sound insulation (no noise from outside or from other rooms). However, there was pretty much zero natural light in the room - even at noon on a sunny day, you needed all the lights on. And the lack of good lighting made it a little tricky for a gal to put on makeup... That said, the biggest downside is the distance from the city center - it looks close to areas like La Condesa on the map, but Mexico City's insane traffic means in the evening it can take you over an hour by Uber to get to La Condesa or Roma Norte. Also, customer service can be very uneven: everyone was super friendly when I actually dealt with staff one-on-one, but it took multiple emails before I got a response to a question I'd sent before my arrival, and they never seem to pick up the phone. Overall, the hotel itself is charming, but the Mexican traffic, dark rooms, and certain inconsistency of service knock a star off my review.

Wonderful Boutique Hotel!!

First let me start by saying that I don’t normally leave reviews, however, I had to for this lovely hotel. We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Wild Oscar and our experience was great from beginning to the end. Our room on the 4th floor was large and very comfortable and the included breakfast in the small lobby area was first rate. We also had dinner there our first night in the same area and everything was delicious. I can highly recommend the beef short ribs! When we returned from dinner we found they left a small crudités tray with 2 certificates for complimentary wine at the bar. Rebecca the front desk manager and all the staff were so pleasant, helpful and accommodating in every way. Mostly we used Uber daily to get to the many different areas of Mexico City to explore by foot. However, one day we wanted to take the Metro and Rebecca was concerned that we might not be able to purchase the pre-filled pass card required at the closest station, so she handed us hers! When we asked a staff member to help us book an online reservation at a small jazz club because the site would not accept our Canadian credit card, she put the reservation in her name and the hotel paid for the cost and charged our room. We also had an issue and I asked if they had any rubber gloves( assuming the cleaning staff would have some). Someone called us back in our room telling us that they have sent someone out to purchase them and then within 20 min they were delivered to our room! Other reviews have complained about the size of the soap bar or that the provided liquid soap is watery…just ask for more of something and the problem is solved. In our opinion this hotel was perfect and all the staff made our stay in Mexico City that much more enjoyable.
